PART I
PRELIMINARY
1. Short title
1) This Act may be cited as the Coupling Act 2008.
2. Interpretation
In this Act the following words and expressions are used in the following senses, unless a contrary intention appears from the context:
(a) when two (2) persons in which are of opposite genders are in the intention to have a relationship with one another; are said to be a couple;
(b) the definitions for gender, a relationship as laid down in the Section 3 of this Act.
3. (a) Opposite genders are of male and female, and therein no similar gender is regarded as a couple.
(b) Relationship that exists between them is must of the special relationship; where the trust and confidence are upon one another; and they are in the duty of care towards another.
Explainations
(a) When A and B are minors, their relationship is not authorized as a couple.
(b) When A and B are said to be a couple; A and B have to support each others for good intentions and matters; which are not contrary to the law.
Illustration
(a) When A and B who are a couple, being found by the authorized party; in a car; and are believed to commit immoral behaviors, thus; they are no longer a couple.
CONSIDERATIONS OF COUPLING
4. Couples have the rights to receive considerations from one another; which the considerations are in form of:
(a) being a partner when the other faces with problem;
(b) celebrating special occasions together;
(c) take care of one another when one of the couple is sick, etc.
Exceptions
The special occasions celebrated by the couples must be of relevant ones, i.e. birthday. Occasions or rather event which give no benefit as to the custom and religion (like Valentine’s Day for Muslims) shall make the relationship voidable.
REVOCATION, VOID, AND VOIDABLE COUPLING
5. Coupling can be revoked i.e. void where:
(1) One of the couple is having a serious relationship with another party;
(2) One of the parties to couple is forced to commit immoral and unlawful act;
(3) One of the parties is abused and mistreated until it causes either physical and mentally injury, or both; one of the parties is left abandoned and neglected, without news.
6. Coupling is said to be voidable where :
(1) One of the parties to couple is having a relationship with another party; but the
degree of seriousness of the relationship is low;
(2) Any other acts the Court might find suitable and relevant.
Illustrations
(a) A and B are a couple, one of them is forced to sell drugs by one another.
(b) A can claim for trespass to person shall B touches him or her without his or her valid consent.
